Hello people,

I washed and re-oiled my HKS foam filter about 5 months ago. Over the weekend I noticed it looking very black and dirty. I was shocked as my car was off the road for 3 of the 5 months and I would have travelled 2,000 km tops The foam started to look a bit shabby so I thought I should replace it.

I was informed that the HKS foam filters are not reusable (not sure if it is true or not) and they should be replaced when they dry out. I decided to replace the HKS foam with reusable Uni Filter foam and so far I am happy with the results. The car is driving very nicely and is as smooth as silk (as you would expect with a clean filter) so hopefully the $60 investment on a piece of foam was a good one.

Cheers

Andrew

Hopefully I get a spare minute over the weekend to design up the custom box.
I can't explain how much of an improvement the new filter has made. The old one must have really been stuffed. The sound is so much sweeter and the car drives like new. I'm stoked...

I was hoping to hear that. Ive heard so many mixed opinions as to whether an aftermarket pod filter is worth it.

But you have just committed me to get one! (even though i was probably gonna get one anyway :P )

How's this for a funny story about filters - recently my father in law who is a sparky came over to stay (he's from Mildura). Anyhoo, my reverse cycle heater kept cutting out via it's thermal protection circuit so I told the old boy to have a geez. He gets down off the ladder and proceeds to pay the siht out of me all night for dirty filters. Now it works like a charm. Apparently they should be cleaned every 2 months for max efficiency.

Even as a revhead I would never have guessed how critical filtration was to my air conditioning.

How frickin weird is that? No siht, this damn air con is like chalk & cheese now, too bloody hot that we have to turn it down now. Historically I would have cleaned it once a year.

Freaky.
