hey guys, ive been on forums a while, but i dont say much on here.
you obviously know mk3s have very weak rear subframes, ive broken 3 and onto my fourth, now im gettinng one reinfrorced by an experienced engineer at my work. i will post pictures up to show you what he is doing.
he is grinding the fins off my diff and making a bracket under the subframe that will bolt in place, he will cut out the bolt holes where the diff mounts upwards at the pinion and weld threaded rods through the length of the subframe for better support.
he will also strengthen the other 4 mounting spots with 4 mm plate or better. considering the frame only weighs 30 ish kg its pretty light and structually weak.
now i dont know how much he wants for the strengthening but im sure it will be reasonable, i can get one pre done so then i can recieve your old frame and start again let me know.

Hrmm, there used to be a big thread about this over on the national forums. Strengthening of the subframe has been done by a few over there and possibly HKS_TRD(not sure if he uses the forums here much anymore) may have done it also. Might want to check over there to see what results have been had.
