Hey guys,
I have recently finally got my 2JZ-GTE JZA80 from Sydney which I have wanted for so long but when it went through its ID check the slapped me with nice big defect sticker. I'm sure as you can imagine my heart broke and I was like milking that last six hours that they let me drive.

....Anyway now the quest begins to bring my beloved Supra up to SA's standards so I can start going on cruises and loving driving again. I was hoping that I could get some help! the biggest thing that was wrong with it was the suspension it has adjustable HKS coil overs and they need to be reverted back to stock Toyota suspension. If anyone has any they would like to sell or if they has some on hand that I could rent from them until I get my car passed that would be great!

The other things include my wheels that will need to be replaced if anyone has some stockies that they would like to sell or rent.

Right now I am hating life so any help with stock or if you have experience in dealing with Regency Park then any advice would be much appreciated.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks Guys
-Troy

Try calling Sinergy, one of the club sponsors, they can usually help out with putting stock parts on for Regency check. What size/offset wheels do you have on it at the moment? Unless you've got something really stupid on there I wouldn't have thought that you'd get a defect for wheels.

as ma61turbo has said ^

Sinergy Motorsports (82697769) will provide a report as to what needs to be done and supply the necessary parts (stock suspension, etc) to clear the defect. They usually take the vehicle through Regency themselves as part of the service.

your wheels should be fine - it is usually the tyres (tread wear, overall diameter) that tend to raise an issue at Regency.

Hey guys thanks for the quick replies really appreciated.

The tires on the wheels have come over the sides of the rims even though they have plenty of tread on them. When it got defected they told me that was one of the things that they will pick up on.

I will defiantly give Synergy a call because that sounds amazing if they can do that, however I am worried about how much it will cost :S

Thanks Stika I will defiantly hit you up if I need them :)
Ultra Supra your pic is sick that's what I have mine eventually looks like :)

Do you mean the tyres are too wide for the rims? What width rims and what width tyres are you running?

They said that the tires wouldn't pass because it looked like they are stressed coming over the rim. After looking at it they seem to just be the way the tires are.
Sorry I don't know the width of the tires or rims off the top of my head.

sounds like they are stretched tyres .... yeah regency wont like them

( not sure if its a smaller tyre being stretched onto a bigger rim )

best bet is new tyres - or borrow some to get you past etc

Stock suspension will need to be changed - Sinergy could be your best bet -

and having someone who is famliar with compliance of cars - doing the mod change, plus taking it over the pits

Thanks :) that photo was actually taken in the first few days after I had bought the car. That was when it was stock.

It's a little different now... :whistling:

Yeah they might be stretched they also seem to be offset a litte so that worries me. Hence why I thought I would just switch them for the check to be safe.
I've herd that it costs around $200 to get the check done at regency can anyone clarify that?

Then if it doesn't pass another 200. Makes you want to get it right the first time.

Just took mine through, it was roughly $180 for the first visit (needing a defect removed and an engine swap approved) and then it was about $120 the second time round with a double defect. Just some ball park figures for you :) but it's usually about half price the second time round, if you need to go back.

Thanks mate that helps a lot I've decided I'm probably going to do most of it myself but then get a mechanic to look over it before take it in to Regency.
There isn't enought time in the days sometime but I'm so keen to get it back on the road.
Does anyone know if once you have been defected does it come up on your licence at all or does it come up when police run your plates?
