been keeping this investment on the downlow for a while now, but finally picked her up today!
some of you might remember the old owner, he was a member on here a while ago and bought a soarer and converted it to a 2j, can't remember his name for the life of me though hahaha.
I'll post up some engine photo's/specs a bit later when i can be bothered haha, but basically it's a 1j/r154, 87 GA70 with a widebody front end conversion with some other goodies.
it's currently on defect, but i'm hoping to have it up and running within a week or two! so damn excited hahah

Also defected for too loud (which it isn't really) and no spare in the boot.
Also needs the diff replaced as it's completely gone haha.
Should be too long before it's up and running though :D

and I assume they ticked chassis / body so it had to go over the pits instead of a cop shop defect, they do that to us here too, they get more money that way lol.

As a suggestion if you get rid of the Cannon and fit say a twin pipe muffler Mr. Plod might leave the car alone more often. When I got pulled over awhile back the cop said 1st thing they all look for is the Cannon. When they see that they presume modified so they then proceeed with the old "Pull over driver, drop your dacks and touch your toes procedure :( "
Im currently looking for a twin setup for mine when funds become available :sorry:

we have a mostly stock ve ss ute in at the moment that was double defected for exhaust (thats fair. full four inch with just high flow cats), window tint, but the main thing and i quote from the defect sheet was "SUSPECT rear shocker/suspension mounts in wrong location. when i had a look the whole lot was dead stock. no suspension changed. just cause the ve's run a low lower control arm. if i was him i would have told the cops to compair it to there piece of shit and if they were still going to then they should defect there own piece of crap :D

Yeah, as far as i know it is illegal NOT to have the spare, but still illegal to have a bald one :banghead: i'll ring up/ask when i go through just to get my facts straight hahah and yeah, it does have to go over the pits -.- luckily nothing's changed under there haha

Yeah, am planning on ditching the cannon eventually as it is stupidly large and putting on a varex remote controlled system, so i can turn it down during town/city driving ;)

I was the original owner of the car and did all the conversion and moding to the car. * the exhaust sounds beautiful and no where loud :( *
I also, as Harley stated owned a JZZ30 soarer which i did the aristo 2jz TT conversion got it to 240rwkw and .. you guessed it . got it painted the mazda 3 celestial blue colour which is similar to that blue. (this particular blue is from the XR6 turbo called blueprint)
I tell you. its soo good to see the car is living strong :)
you shouldn't have much to worry about safety wise with regency, as i gave the car a complete JZA70 front end conversion. basically EVERYTHING from the JZA70 front cut was put in it. Brakes, Cross member, you name it :) and a mofo of a TRD 5 puk clutch * not sure if the other owner replaced it when he got the gearbox rebuilt .. but that clutch kit was bullet proof.
The half cut was a 1993 JZA70 Originated from Import Spares "Koji" it had quite a few HKS goodies on it so unclear what's hidden under the covers as i just serviced it and did the conversion and and the car was serviced ever 3000km's with Mobile ONE full synthetics and diff and gearbox oils were replaced ever 5000km. ((( YES i know that's wastefull but i had access to unlimited supply of the fluids and free hoist so nearly once a month the car would get a free full service))) and i really enjoyed working on the car!
- The diff is a TORSEN
- FRONT AND REAR adjustable cusco strut brace's
- Tien Coilovers from memory 16kg /12kg springs? its fairly stiff!
- car used to always get drift alignment's and tyers at Adelaide Radial tyers *matty there is a champ!*
- car was dynoed stock as a rock with just a HKS catback @ 191rwkw at a measly 10psi
after dyno a
- Cold air intake was put in,
- custom FMIC with minimum piping and response
We all know what FMIC's do to 1jz and 2jz .. so power shot up straight away since it was using a wrecked 1G intercooler before. - Oil Cooler
- Front 300mm Slotted Rotors
- Block off stock BOVfor the MAD Flut0r " I was young at the time" :P
I sold the car because I stared working @ a pathology doing blood testing etc at Ashford and Wakefield hospital and i lived at golden grove... so driving that car 40 min to work and 40 mins back in its full drift setup and stiff sus resulted in me going to work with a sore back , left leg *clutching* and a headache.
I would recommend doing the fuelling as the next step after you get it back on the road then dropping it to FoursNmore and get a 240- 250ish rwkw @ 16psi tune =)
Anyways buddy, I just thought of giving you a brief history of the car and where it originated from :P
I have some pics throughout the conversion etc :) i like to keep them for good memories. if you need any shoot me a PM
p.s Oversized cannon is a true JDM icon for the Jza70 :P goes well with its phat ass, it looks ugly on the trailer as your looking at eye level and upwards.. looking downwards when its normally on the ground make's it much more proportional =)
Hope to see it around sometime!!
Regards

I feel like I have just watched a "this is your life" on the car lol
If only we could all have a write up like this for our cars, nice work indeed.
As for the defect stuff. Another strange and rediculous fact...
It is a bigger fine for having your licence plate obstructed/broken/dirty than if you didn't have one at all.
doing us proud SAPOL....

bit of a status update, took the diff out and it's VERY far gone. the shafts that connect to the axles (not sure exactly what they're called haha) BOTH came OUT of the diff before we even dropped it off the chassis, so y'know, it wasn't moving anywhere hahah.
got a new one in and that's all sweet, having some idle problems but i think that might due to stale/old fuel and possible sparkplug problems. hopefully doing the suspension tomorrow and off to regency next week! :friends: :friends:
