After much research I have narrowed my selection of Electronic Boost controllers down to 2 models.

My first preference is the
Turbosmart e-Boost 2
http://www.turbosmartonline.com/images/1099.jpg

My second preference is the
Apexi AVCR
http://turboperformanceparts.com/images/AVC-R.jpg

Both these models do pretty much the same thing as far as I can tell. Loads and loads of functions and extra tricky stuff, they are both roughly the same price.
Has anybody had experience, good or bad, with either of these models?
Your input would be much appreciated.

I am leaning more towards the Turbosmart e-Boost 2 because it can be mounted as a gauge, I would replace the supra clock with it for ultra sleekness and stealth "assuming the 5.0 don’t know what it is"

On the other hand I do like the display of the Apexi AVCR but if I were to mount it where I could see it, it would stand out like Santa in the Mexican sun. I could always keep it in the glove box but it seems like a waste of a very nice looking piece of kit.

I am looking to buy in the next few weeks so I will wait to hear what people think before making a final decision.

Personally I'd go a Greddy Profec B, just so it was easier to hide out of the way in behind something haha.

AVC-R is pretty expensive still and is getting on a bit now. I don't have any experience with electronic controllers but I reckon that you can probably do better than that. What about the eBoost Street instead of the eBoost 2? It's smaller, doesn't have a heap of features you won't use and is cheaper? Looked at things like the HKS EVC-S or Blitz SBC i-D Spec R? Don't know much about them specifically but they seem pretty capable?

I think that the Five Oh will know that it is not a clock - the eBoost TurboSmart labelling might give that away...

I was talking to Brenton (fours n more) the other day on the phone and he said the AVCr's are pretty much the best on the market for tuning.
The main feature he said to look for is the ability to tune boost against RPM rather than just pick a figure and control the wastegate up to that pressure.
I was going to get the HKS EVCS but it doesn't support the RPM tuning as Benton highly recommended.

The profec B came up as being a very capable model aswell.

Kim - you’re probably right, I was just being optimistic lol

How do they map boost vs RPM? RPM input?

IMO get something that is small enough that you can fit it in the centre console. Easy enough to get to to tune, but nice and out of the way so the 5-0 can't see it like that eBoost ;)

Not entirely sure really, its all a little confusing to be honest. Brenton just made himself very clear that this was a feature that is a MUST for ultimate control of that boost curve.
I wont be using the Boost controller to tune the car, he will.
But your right, what was I thinking with the eboost 2 haha. Looks amazing though.
The little bro, the Eboost street is a classy little unit, very descrete and I would imagine that it has nearly the same features as its bigger bro.

I reckon the features it doesn't have are the ones you wouldn't use anyway

Probably right there, the only thing I will change on it myself may be switching between 2 preset boost pressures

Go profec b, it works, it's simple to use and easy to hide.

Mine works great but it spends most of the time off if not all of the time off. 11 psi is heaps for me...

If you are serious about tuning and all that, why get a boost controller? All the top end ecus have closed loop boost control that can control boost depending on gear, rpm, temperature etc so you set it once and let the ecu with all the inputs decide the boost levels. Works even better if you incorporate knock sensing and traction control so I can't see the need to change boost levels manually? I will do this one day but i have a list of features and things I still need to finish first.

I think I’m going to go for this one. But get the profec b II, i assume it has all the features of its predecessor.
All I have heard is good reviews on this and it was also one that Brenton mentioned was a good sturdy unit.

Thanks for the help guys. Looks like i will have to hold off for a few weeks seeing as I might be getting those isotta seats now :D

Forget greddy, get the Blitz SBC i-Colour. does everything but drive the car and is a schmick looking unit which can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Can set boost levels for each gear/rpm its awesome. I have a blitz sbc iD if you wanna borrow that. I also have the blitz power meter but the sun melted the case so it looks wonky but still functions properly.
Just my 2c :P
