Well guys been looking for a S2 VVTI RZ for a little bit now but have been receiving info from some people. Am after 6 speed Turbo.

It has how-ever come to my attention that S2 VVTI are far more difficult and expensive to mod, coming from a supra owner. Therefore future upgrades hard to come by. What are your opinions?

Would it be better for me to go with RZ (1995 to 1997) with bigger brakes and 6 speed manual?

Other problem is TT or ST, do i stick with TT or go for a big single grrrr. Theres a cheap ST 5 speed going on car sales for 15k

For big numbers the S1 TT is cheaper I think, (300kw+) but if your only looking for about 250kw I don't think you'll see much difference price wise. I prefer the look of the S1 over the S2. (except for the S2 headlights) I think the single turbo 5speed would break the gearbox pretty quickly. (Depending on power output)

Bullshit.

The only thing difficult about the VVTi is when you go to an aftermarket ECU. Everything else is just the same as a non-VVTi, with the one exception of the intake cam(and there are options for that as well via the US). Every single other mod is pretty much exactly the same.

Best off going for all the bells and whistles, RZ spec, if you can afford it. But don't cheap out on it. Cheap imports are cheap for a reason.

You're 20 right? If you really are set on a TT(get ready to bend over for insurance) stick with it being a TT and don't bother going crazy with a big single.

And please, for the love of god, if you haven't already, go and do an advanced driver training course or two and don't end up like the young guy that wrapped his TT NA around a tree in Elizabeth not too long ago.

Thx for the reply, the statement about expensive mods was only directed at the ECU and camshaft funny enough, as i heard this can be quite a large some, i understand how similar the JZ engines are.

Turning 21 next month which lowers insurance, expecting 1.5-2k.

When you get to know me you will understand i obey the law and respect the road, environment and others. If and when i take driving to the next level, it WILL only be done on the track, after which many courses are completed and i and others feel competent enough in my driving ability.

Eventually i wish to beat SA's fastest stock TT around Mallala(?) - 1:23.13

Yeah, well, they are both easy to come buy and not overly difficult. The only real issue you'd run into is finding a tuner who can tune vvti(i'm sure there are a few around though). Plenty of ECu systems that'll control vvti and there are a number of vvti cam options. These are only really an issue if you are going all out though, for BPU level stuff it is essentially the same.

Doubt insurance will go down just because you turn 21. You'll need to wait till 25 for that.

Good, just don't get carried away ;)

Sounds like a challenge! Go for it, if you can get a stocker(or what is essentially stock: TRD filter, 2" downpipe, 2.5" zorst) around in that kind of time I think you'll be doing well. I don't consider myself fast, but that time is quicker than a number of modded GTR's I know of. :loco:

I met a guy wednesday night who was out on a hills cruise with the group in an Nissan S15 200sx, he owned the car for about 24 hours...he said he wasnt confident but he thought it was clever to dump the clutch leaving a car park. He came within about 5 meters of meeting the owners of the petrol station in Meadows?

please please learn the car and the road and how it reacts to different roads/surfaces. I didnt like the idea of possibly fleaing the scene of a crime or the idea of attmpting first aid.
