Hey peeps,

got into my car this morning to go to work, did everything normal switched of alarm - opened the door etc

i turned the key to start and all i got was it clicking on and off - no turn over on the engine at all....the dash lights would go on and off as it clicked....

the actual battery was at the right level to start ( so wasnt flat ) and my alarm was turned off right so wasnt the immobiliser etc....

i didnt have to time to sit n play - as needed to be at work -

any ideas what the problem could be ???? -

when i get home tonight ill try and reset the alarm and see if that works,
if not could be a fuse gone maybe ???
starter motor ?

the supra was working all fine last night when i drove home from work started fine with no hicups.....

any help appreciated

Stika

Sounds like you gotta do the starter relay mod.

Get a spanner out and whack the starter, that should sort it for now, but alas, yes, you will need look at doing the relay mod, or worse, a new starter :)

have you inspected the starter motor yet. how did you get it started?? there is a possibility that your b+ terminal on the starter motor has come loose. either that or the starter is warn out. if the relay job doesn't work or if you haven't started yet just have a quick look. good luck mate

the supra has started each time no clicking now - havnt changed anything yet....

so we hoping the starter motor is fine,

talking to gf's uncle,( electronics guru ) he was saying instead of installing the relay mod,

just to run a bigger wire direct to the starter motor - as the wire is now a 10, go to a 6 or 4 - ( which is bigger )

the distance from the battery to the starter motor is causing it to loose some power, and being a smaller wire - that
could be the problem.....

have to get some wire tonight , and get under and connect it up.... :aggressive: see how that goes for now

Your uncle is fairly correct. I did just that. Ran a new cable from ECU to starter (starter trigger wire). You are def having the problem with that wire (which most people do the relay mod to fix). Its caused by the cable deteriorating over time and not being able to carry enough down it to trigger the starter.
