I looked into it and it appeared way too hard. I ended up leaving them up there and fitting some in the door panel which was easy enough to get off and do yourself.
Ask phantom, he said that removing stockies are near impossible

You could remove the front windscreen...

But seriously, it is a big job and only for the obsessive audio enthusiast.

Our forum sponsor (John of Marvey Tech fame) removed the entire dash of my car to fit a pair of high end tweeters (Alpine F#1) in custom mounts. The result is nigh on perfect, but did take a lot of time and effort. You need to make a decision as to what audio result you want.

Fit a twin plate clutch and a lightened flywheel, decent sound from your Stereo will become a pipedream due to back ground noise

Read a thread either on National or UK Supra site about removing and replacing the tweeters and as Kim said its a massive job. Im sure someone like John from Marvey Tech could come up with a different placement and just disable the OEM ones. Bound to be a cheaper option and just as effective if not better.

i suppose it depends on what sort of soundstage height / depth you want to create with oem vs sailplanes vs door tweeter positions...

my stock tweeters were removed by complete audio essentially they smashed the cradle holding the stock tweeters. put foam in there dropped in the alpine tweeters and then siliconed the tweeter grills back in. (VERY DODGEY)

when i redid my stereo with Adelaide pro sound, George asked if i liked base or ear piercing treble. factory tweeter positions reflect off the glass which works well (some say it washes the sound out). putting the tweeter high on the door trim means it will hit your ear first before everything else (and you have now added a hole in your door trim). what George decided was to put it down in the kick panels angled up. it seriously sounds good enough you would think its right near your ear for some songs.

feel free to ask me for a look and listen next time at a meet.

Personally my favourite choice in tweeter position is in the A-pillars.
It's not hard to make up a fibreglass A-pillar with a mount for the tweeter in it, or if the tweeter comes with a mount, fashioning a hole for it to fit in. In my old car I had them facing directly above the center consol at head height. I like my treble as it gives a nice clearer sound, however I did have to turn the amplification of the tweeters down because they were hitting you so directly.
