I've been getting emails from new members trying to join up, telling me that they are having issues registering onto the forums.

I am currently looking into what the problem may be. In the mean time, please bear with me.

One thing to note, though, is that free email accounts are not accepted as valid registration emails. So if you are trying to register using your Hotmail, Yahoo, GMail etc. etc. account can I suggest you try a different (proper) email address instead.

Failing that, you can send me an email at nospam@sasupra.com and include your prefered username, password and proper email address and I'll set up an account for you manually. You may have to wait though, as I am off to work in about 10 minutes and won't be back till later tonight.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience,

Mark

P.S. Also, if your username contains any form of a rude, explicit or derogatory word you will also not be able to register. Just something to keep in mind if you are having problems registering.

i popped across and gave an invite card to the lady driver -

she said she has been invited before but due to only having a hotmail address the site wouldnt allow her to register...

Anything we can do to avoid this ???? i wonder how many others have had this problem ???

can we let them register and then if they want to become financial - then they need a fixed email address ??

is there a email host - that we can send them to to be able to register ?????

Pointed towards the moderating team - thanks Guys n Gals

I think the main reason for the rejection of hotmail addresses is due to the chance that someone may make up one of those free emails to gain access to the site and hack into the boards and stuff around with anything again.

Maybe an alternative would be to place one of the admins direct email address on the home page that is viewed by the guests to the site. They can then directly email the admin team and get validated this way.

There are a lot of internet users who only have a hotmail or gmail account and as the case is above, we may be losing potential new members and more revenue for the club.

Spot on Matty, we get several dodgy applications a week eg. Russia, US, Asia etc. all from free mail accts.
As a matter of policy they all get deleted for the reasons mentioned.

People usually have at least 1 valid email address, generally your ISP one - how else are you cruising the net then?

If it's really a problem then they can hit the SAS email addy and we can get round it that way but not keen on doing this just so someone can NOT supply a valid email addy. If it was someone a member actually knew ie. not a stranger we could bend the rules though for sure. If it is genuinely someone off the street then not keen.

Sooo... answer is - get them to email the SAS addy with an introduction and maybe get them leave a mobile contact - we can then ring them to confirm and then allow/look out for the rego.

Ta,
GEE

Steve if she's a Hottie driving a Supra Im sure you will get her email address and phone number ;)

Good old Hotmail,Yahoo,Freemail you name em they are all a wonderful source of Spammers and hackers. I suggest if they know a friend with a fixed email address they ask nice and register through them and then notify the mods of their Hotmail adress as Primary contact.

Just one option as I did this with a friend of mine to get him on in the early days.

Cheers
Darren

Hey all, i've only just recently joined the forums and was wondering if I can get mine changed? :S I'm not in SA yet, but definately moving there march 09' and absoloutly cant wait to get a supra up and running (under my name) and join you guys. But before that i'll need my email changed as im using a work one at the moment... and unfortunately, when the time comes ill have to quit (email will get deleted) and move to SA.

So if it's possible, could I ask for mine to get changed to bradley_halis@hotmail.com (now you know my full name!)
