Hey guys/girls,

I recently lost my oil cap (silly of me i know)
and i bought a replacement oil cap from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com....=item563dcb6d47
which arrived today, and to my amazement, it didn't fit!
looks to be some kind of screw on type oil cap...
did supra oil caps differ between turbo/non turbo/jdm/usdm etc ?
or have i just been sent the wrong cap, right now i have aluminium foil covering the engine oil hole :(

any advice/help would be very much appreciated :)

i'm a bit sleepy at the moment, but as far as i know, there are no differences between oil caps within the JZA80 generation of Supras (USDM and JDM are the same) as they all have a 2JZ based engine (turbo/non turbo). however, the A80 Supra oil cap is a different type from the A70 Supra oil cap as the A70 has a different engine (eg 7M... actually the A70 has a number of different engines but that's outside the scope of this discussion). it will also differ from some of the ones found in the Celica, MR2, Corolla etc.

i don't have any photos handy of the underside of any of those caps to illustrate the difference but I'm sure that a quick search through Google Images will net you some photos.

the common 2JZ aftermarket ones (Blitz, Greddy, TRD) can be found here:
http://www.mvpmotors...=482&SearchYN=N

TRD part numbers can be found here:
http://www.trdusa.co...4&vehicle=supra

trd oil cap-#00602-12108-003 is the one that you're after

Contact the seller, tell them your're unhappy with your purchase as it doesn't fit the model car specified in the ad listing. Tell them to either A. Refund or B. You want them to send you a cap that fits :)

Don't leave them feedback until your dispute is settled and if they don't reply after you have made several attempts to contact them (I'd give them a couple weeks) then open a dispute against them in PayPal (You did pay via Paypal??) They should come to the party once you get paypal involved as it freezes their paypal account and won't let them withdraw or send money.

If all else fails let me know and if it fits my celica I'll grab it off ya as I was looking at this last night :)

Good luck!

Dean.

To add to this, the 2JZ uses a sprung twist on cap rather than a simple screw on. For the life of me I can't remember if the 7M was twist or screw on, looking at the diagrams at toyodiy.com it looks as though it should be a screw on. So, what they've sold you is most likely a cap that fit the xA6x and xA7x Supras with the M series engine.

As Dean said, contact the seller and get a refund or the correct cap.

Correct, the 7M is a screw type
