Locking of threads in For Sale section

Personally I don't think any threads should be locked after items have been sold because it prevents sellers from "re-listing" items if the sale falls through and buyers leaving feedback or additional information (installation troubles etc).
I'm asking this question because I'm sick of getting emails from people wanting to buy items that have already been sold several months ago. But the thread has been locked so I'm unable to make a post or edit a previous one to say the item has been sold. It's a waste of my time and theirs.
We're also not a big site with for sale threads being used the wrong way -like people posting "hey i have one of these too and can sell it to you cheaper" in other peoples threads- so I really don't think any smooth running threads need locking at all.

sometimes the Admin/Mod team will lock FS threads when the posts go right off the original sale topic or the item was sold a long time ago and some newbie has resurrected the thread from years ago (eg. something for sale in 2006)
if you're wanting to change your OP in a closed FS thread to reflect the sale, just PM one of the team and we'll help you out.
cheers - Kim

None of the above.

Any chance a policy can be made to not lock threads in this section unless they're problematic?
Having to PM staff to unlock or have them comment in threads after it's been locked by an overzealous admin/mod isn't a good solution. It just creates more work for everyone. The best solution would be for this to not happen in the first place.

At 30 threads per page thats only 14 out of nearly 450 threads. Seems to be in the minority to me, unless there are FS threads I cannot see (ok theres the group buy section but that has 2 locked topics over two pages and all of them are at least 90 days old)
Again I could have counted this completely wrong so apologies if I have but it really doesn't look like a big issue...

errm, but we normally don't lock the For Sale threads so i'm not sure what you're referring to
(would be nice if the other Mods/Admin guys can confirm/refute this)

e.g. http://www.sasupra.c...es-for-a80-180/
I cannot see any reason why that thread should be locked.

If it's not policy then can whoever is doing this please stop. It's not the first time one of my threads has been locked without reason (I've had to ask mods to unlock some previously). If someone has a problem with me or one of my threads please be a man and say something, don't be a wanker and just lock my threads.

However, I can understand a reason for it to be closed.
The last post before your post in December 09 was in June 08.
Yes, While your the topic starter, it is considered a grave dig.
Not sure if was just seen as a grave dig by another admin/mod and not realising it was done by the thread creator.
Personally I think you would have been better off starting a new thread for them and linking to the old thread if it was really needed, but thats just me.

But regardless, that wasn't the only thread that was mysteriously locked. It'd be good if people posted a reason for locking threads like what happens in pretty much every other forum.
Thanks for unlocking it.

This has never been a policy of mine, nor has it been of any of the other admins. Perhaps a renegade mod back in the day decided to start locking them?
Regardless, if you come across something that you dont think is right, then post up and let us figure it out ;)
