Hey, Im Rusty
I purchased my Toyota Supra 1994 5 speed N/A a year ago now. No mods as such throught the year apart from purchasing some 17" advan racing rims that i just had to have from sinergy.

Iv just got myself a decent income and decided to go full steam into dropping a 2jzgte in and the 2jzge out.
Time is an issue as my goal is to have it all in and running in 2 months (with only 1 month to work on it) for the local dyno day.

Im picking up my Toyota Aristo Front Cut and R154 5 Speed Box on the same day a month from now
there goes most of the piggy bank.
then ill source a nice front mount intercooler and exhaust...

Plans from then on in following months once its in are:
Boost Controller (Gready profec 2)
Gauges (drift performance)
Turbo Timer
Cam Gears and New Belt (titan gears, hks belt)
Clear (See Through) Timing Belt Cover (which yes can be made for the 2jzgte and not just the rb skyline engines)
carbon fiber rocker cover
carbon fiber dash
updated speedo and rev taco
Racing Seats
all new thumping soundsystem (pioneer) (girlfriend gets my old setup) :)
Clear Front Indicators
Clear Side Indicators
Slotted Rotors
Red Stuff Brake Pads
Tein Coilovers
Xeneon Lights
My 17" Super Advan Racing Wheels Re-Treded (too many flat spots :P )
Heavy Duty Clutch For The R154
Hi-Flown Turbos
A Nice Tune To The ECU

Then ill pretty much be done,
Thats how I like it :)

2 months isn't long. All the best.

Hopefully you have sourced all the parts you need to carry out the conversion. Make sure you at least buy new engine mounts and replace the front and rear main seals, harmonic balancer and water pump. You will be crazy not to while the engine is on an engine stand.

Don’t rush the project just because of a Dyno comp – as there will be plenty of others.

Do the job once and do it right. It will save you in the long run.

You will need to buy a TT tacho or modify the NA tacho. Make sure you upgrade the radiator as the 5 speed NA has the smallest radiator available in the A80 family. If you try and run your stock radiator, you will only need to change it in the near future.

I guess you already know the differences about the cooling fan and vaccum boost for the brake master cylinder?

Also the sump’s are different but I guess you are aware of that. You can either swap your NA sump out or just buy a TT sump (so you can sell your NA engine complete).

You may need to upgrade your suspension as the spring rates and sway bars on the NA are generally softer than the TT so handling may be compromised. NA suspension in a TT may result in increased pitching and rolling due to an increase in torque and engine weight.

The tail shaft may require modifications to suit the R154 and I am guessing you sourced the correct version to suit? I think the R154 from a Soarer is a direct bolt up?

Right on Yiros.. R154 needs to be from a Soarer for a direct bolt on :)

Good luck!
1 month to do it all is pushing it alot, I stand with Yiros and say dont worry about the comp and do it all right once.

Just an update.....unfortunatly wont be able to get the car done by March 7th for the local dyno.....but it has certainly sparked my attention of taking a bit more time and making sure its done right.....I still plan to hopefully have the project completed by the end of March providing most things go to plan.

The way to plan your car build is have an expected time frame then multiply that figure by 10 and budget needs to be doubled :D

Anything missing will take ages to source.

Hey Guys,

I will probably be heading down to give Rusty a hand installing this, and wanted to confirm what shifter position is needed for the R154?
I have heard that the early (JZZ30 Soarer) have a non-remote shifter, and this is what is required in the JZA80.
JZA70 Supras use the same gearbox as the non-remote shifter type jzz30, and should be fine as well.
R154s with the remote shifter from the newer JZZ30s, JZX90, JZX100, etc, all put the shift position too far back.

Can anyone please confirm this for us?

Thanks,

Herus
