Well seeming as I suggested this section I thought I would post this up to try and encourage more of you to post up the builds of your car. I know it is not a supra so if this is not to your taste then don't start a flame war as you can happily ignore it. It is always nice to see what is driving around in your local area.

My IS200 is a Platinum Spec with a 1G-FE engine connected to a J160 6 speed manual. I bought the car in June of 2008 for around the $25k mark. At the time it had 105,000 kilometers on it. This Thursday it is going in for its 160,000km service :whistling:. It was completely stock upon purchase and is putting out 88.3rwkw as seen at the Dyno Day in 2009.

~Mods List~

  • Two Alpine Type S 12" Subs

~What It Looks Like Now~

So I have gotten it how I want in exterior looks, ICE and navigation, currently no solid plans to do anything with the Engine or Suspension as insurance is too restrictive, in a few YEARS time I would like to entertain the idea of an engine swap along the lines of a 3UZ-FE or a 2JZ-GTE but its all speculation at this point.

Always thought these things were sexy.

I'd suggest 1uz or 1jz though(both vvti versions), the is300 with the 2jz-ge was too front heavy and the gte, I think, would make that even worse. Unless you can get hold of a BEAMS 3s-ge and go full Altezza spec ;)

Ah ok, I have never driven an IS300 so never known about their handling first hand, I know of a couple with 2J's but they are mostly show queens. When millenworks made the IS430 it was about the same weight as the IS300 but I guess if the handling of the 300 is bad enough why make it worse? :P

Genuine Altezzas are very rare here indeed, there have only been 45 applications to import, 38 approved and only 28 of those have been road registered. There is one genuine one here in Adelaide, met the owner before, says he used to go on cruises with Boost Samurai so maybe a few older club members know him. Don't think he had the Altezza back then though but his name is Justin as well.

Guess it will be something to look into in a few years time, it's a lovely car and at this stage all it lacks is power, which is probably a good thing being a young driver. :)

If i was to get a 3S wouldn't a 3S-GTE be better than trying to stick a turbo onto a 3S-GE blacktop? also a bit more legal? :P

The problem with the 3S GTE vs the BEAMS 3S GE (altezza) is that the gte is layed over on an angle and also faces East/West, rather then North/South (like the 3S GE).

Not knowing anything about the IS200 couldnt say if East/West layout would be a problem, but I'm assuming that the current layout is North/South?

Still waking a turbo onto a 3s ge might require a GTE for spare parts? That might still end up cheaper in the end anyway, compared to such a conversion.

Ahh cheers for that orange! :) didn't think of the positioning, yeah it currently is a North/South, I know 3S-GTE pistons are a bad idea for it as its a high compression but 2JZ-GTE pistons with 3S-GTE rods make a really good setup, although someone forgot to take VVTi into account and got this, luckily the New Zealanders have heaps of 3S-GE altezzas so they have done a lot of work with different types of turbo settups, here in aus we get a lot of 1&2JZ setups and the occasional 1UZ, theres a red one in Adelaide that is currently getting a 2JZ that I have heard about.

Still a lot of water under the bridge and I doubt I would be able to handle it, which is why the track days Ultra_Supra has organised have been so good as I'm learning what the car can do stock!

holy shit... that looks like a nightmare!

yeah that was my thoughts, beams was already rwd, and iirc the 3sgte from celica/carren etc would end up with the dizzy
making out with the firewall because of the fwd layout.

thanks for the props :friends: will be good to see how you go flat out around Mallala on Monday!

that's exactly why i've been organising these trackdays - to give people the opportunity to learn the capabilities / limits of their cars. pity that there has never been more than eight Toyotas out there on any of these trackdays...

I would've loved to have gone along if I knew about them/joined the club earlier/had done the first course to do the second etc. :P haha

Car looks very nice JT, I've always been a fan of the Lexus' but alas I can only afford a Supra :D haha.
Love the classy look those rims give it too.

Got the new sound system in yesterday to find out that there is a problem with my amp, going to see someone tomorrow to find out if it is repairable otherwise a new one will have to be found.
http://jtmiller.net/pics/subs.jpg

so until the amp is fixed or replaced no sound in my car :( it is painful
