I was wondering if anyone could provide some info or experience on changing the headlight globes to some super whites or whatever they're called?

Firstly, are they illegal? Most new cars come standard with them right. And

Secondly, What size are the front globes? and would any mods need to made to the electrics the fit them?

I talked to a sprint auto guy and he reckons an adapter is needed ???, but hopefully one of you guys have already gone through all this and can shed some "light" on it. And should i even get just globes or get a HID kit, and is that legal. Ah so many questions....

Cheer rez

hid are illegal, but most time cops dont care, unless u drive pass them and blind them...
with the super whites im sure it is same as normal light bulbs, just stright forward swap.(u might still get defected with this, because some cops are dicks.. defect u for any thing.)
if u want brighter head light get a head light amp kit, that way u can support brighter light bulbs. right now my normal beam is alot brighter then before, when i flick on high beam i can basickly light up a side street...
if u wana a mk3 complete head light hid kit, i got 1 some where in my room, i think is 6000k. 80$ is yours^^ been used but very good condition.

HIDs are not illegal, as such. If you get the auto leveler for them, then the cops cant do a thing.

Currently, in my A70, im running some 5000k H4 bulbs and just what ever the standards are in the spot lights. These are a nice white, with the slightest hint of blue, if your looking into the head lamp it self.

Hope this helps you some

Youll need to take the black plastic surround off first, then un do the two screws holding the housing in. Then the rest is childs play mate.

Be warned, i had a sealed housing (so i couldnt take the bulbs out of the reflector) in my supra so i had to buy some new housing. Id recommend the "Crystal Cut" housings/lenses as a good value for money buy. About $80 for the pair (Search on supraforums.com.au for the link to the website to get them).

Other than that, its pretty easy job to do man!

im pretty sure hid are defectble. i called up regancy before and ask them about hid lights, they said "it is stright defect if u fit a hid kit in ur car, unless it is a factory option". with the super whites they still can defect u, if the cops find it distracting or they pop ur bonnet to cheak if it is hid and find other things to defect u for...

oh yeh ice, do u have a mob number i can contact with, i might come get it tomorrow.

To make them legal they have to have auto leveling and headlight washers. Once fitted then you need to get an engineer to sign them off. Your talking a pretty major cost for not that much better lighting. Just buy some good quality globes in the right colour range and you will see a massive improvement with minimal cost and zero police hassles.I tried 3 different types of globes and colour ranges before I found something suitable for my eyes. As you get over 40 :) you lose the ability to see some of the Blue Spectrum. I ended up getting Philips Globes as they threw the best light.

Cheers
Darren

Wait headlight washers are required? I had headlight washers but the new front bar doesn't have them. Its a stock HID with auto leveler so would that still be ok?
