Have spoken to Brenton about that previously and they weren't overly keen. Decided that once it gets back here the old man and I are working on the kit ourselves (same as we had to do with the CRX in the end). The guy up the road from my parents place who did work on the CRX before it was airbrushed is more than happy to do the spray work but hasnt got time to do the kit fitting at the moment.

Currently continuing to save for 6 speed conversion, high flow, cams and gears. Decided that was a much better option to go with over the big single, and will still appear legal 'when' I do eventually get it pulled over.

So heres the end result of 10 weeks at a panel shop... exactly as I left it... and apparently the body kit was no good to use

12 hours @ $71.50 = $858.00
($65.00 + $6.50 GST)

the quote I have states $38.50 (GST Incl) for panel shop work... meaning a 'charge' of $462, minimum refund of $1038 for the 12hrs 'work'

27 Pages of information and forms combined with 7 pages of images and countless email print outs later... consumer affairs are ready to tackle.

just glad to have her back and locked away safely in my shed, but definately taking it as far as i can

Maybe he put the car in the spray booth before he held the kit up to the side, so he could charge you the 'paint shop' rate? and then fell asleep for a day and a half??

12 hours to tell if a kit will fit or not... It only takes me 20 mins and I have no experience whatsoever. Seriously, it's not hard or time consuming to tape a skirt on and see if it lines up!

Glad to hear you got it back, and work can now proceed. My thoughts now go out to Dean.

well u cant forget the 12 hours of dust acquired. cant believe he had the cops come down too.

Dean if you read this get your money back and go elsewhere. its been far too long. if they cant do a car in 2 months they are pathetic. i paid 6k got a kit fitted and car painted from silver to purple, it took 2 months. that was with other insurance jobs putting my car off for a week or a few days here and there. it wasn't widebody but if its ready for paint. it should be out in a week maybe 2 max...

with JJ's car and Deans car take the story to Today Tonight. there was a few people who complained about ASV in lonsdale about a year ago on TT and one of them scored a free paint job by MC doyles.

best of luck sorting out your issues guys

Interior is no longer in the spare room, will be sending it off soon (using that word loosely) to get trimmed up.

Also replaced all my dash globes with blue LEDs... I guess you could call it progress...

I have hardly any lift near the rear vent, a tiny little bit in the middle section but nothing too major, I assume when it gets trimmed up it will be all tucked in fairly tightly so shouldn't be too much of an issue?

HOWEVER My dash is lifting on the top left hand side around the cluster, need to plastic weld more contact area to house another screw to hold it down more, pretty much all of the screw holes are buggered :(

Getting it trimmed (as in leather etc) or vacuum skinned? Nice car btw.

You will struggled to find any one who can vacuum mould an A80 dash. They are simply too big and don’t fit in the moulding machines. I looked into this last year and even took one my spare dashes (I have 2 spares, doesn’t everyone?) into a few places. I asked around interstate but didn’t get very far meaning there is probably no one here in Australia who has the equipment to do it.

Was looking at getting some stuff vacuum skinned, but more than likely will all just be retrimmed and stitched. There was a company called G-Trim in Sydney who use to do vacuum moulding but I'm not sure if they are still around or not. I'll more than likely be taking it to the guy who retrimmed my CRX.

There is a place in NSW that I have seen work from that is unreal, but getting the trim up there would cost a fortune. I'm not going for any crazy patterns or anything like that, just a simple color change.

Also Yiros, where abouts did you get your top glove box gauge pod thingy? Thinking of fibreglassing one up as I can't seem to find one like yours anywhere.

Mine panel is made by Border and I had it vacuum moulded by Dash Originals in Hope Valley. These are the best guys in SA (so I have been told by most restoration guys).

Shipping an A80 dash pad interstate would cost as much or more than the trim. I was quoted about $550 for a vacuum re-trim + $150 for a mould but unfortunately the dash didn’t fit.

I remember getting a budget price of about $1200? for new dash. I’d dare say these have been discontinued long ago as I doubt they ever sold any as parts and accessories.
