Drive to Survive course Level 1 driving course for everyone

this is the Drive To Survive course run by John Bowe Driving Institute and is actually the same as the SA Drive To Live course because it's run by the same guy (my mate Tony Hastings)
both October 29 (Wednesday) and November 11 (Tuesday) are available course dates.
this precedes the trackday (Level 2b High Performance driving course) that i have organised for November 19 (Wednesday) and is the recommended entry point if you want to be serious about driving
however, this is also the compulsory course for many SA Government employees who are asked to drive as part of their work.
IMVS, EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), CAA (Courts Administration Authority) are a few of the government agencies that send their employees to this.
you bring your own car, so you'll be there with the IMVS Camrys and EPA Priuses!
this is NOT just for Supra owner/drivers. i recommend this course for your family/spouse/partner/girlfriend/boyfriend/friends as it helps to educate everyone about driving in an emergency / emergency braking / defensive driving. it's not rocket science and it's not just Go to Whoa
discounted pricing for SA Supra forum members is $245 (regular course fee is $300)

I think its only called that because it differs from an open track day as there is actual tutorage going on. As opposed to just, jump in ya car and go spazz round Mallala.
But yeah, really keen Kim. Chuck me down as a definite (Here's hoping it's Wednesday though! :P). I may also have friends/family who are interested but I will ask them for confirmation of interest before putting names down.

more or less... ;)
the November trackday is a High Performance Drive Day and is actually a step up from the Advanced Driving course which is not offered here in SA. you're pretty much let loose on the track (like the Open days at Mallala) but have the benefit of a professional instructor available to sit next to you and critique your driving style (or bad habits!)
unlike the Open practice days at Mallala, you don't have to share sessions with the bikes, open wheelers or drifters - you can go out onto the track as often as you like (oil and brake temps permitting). you could get anywhere from 40-60 laps with this course (for $385/day) and this would be a lot more laps than the open practice days ($100/day). plus there is less traffic on the circuit with my day as we cap numbers at 28 drivers for the day. once we only had 16 cars total in the paddock which meant there were times when we had two cars on the track (awesome).
now the Drive to Survive course of this thread feeds into the Advanced & High Performance Days. please note that it is not a circuit based course (it's at AIR) and you won't do any laps of anything. it is about emergency and defensive driving techniques.
hope this helps

hmmm... I'm not sure about requirements for P2's
you can do the Drive to Survive course in any car, provided that you bring your own. sorry, they don't supply any vehicles.
most people bring their work vehicles (i think we had a couple of guys in their trade utes once). my wife took the Falcon out for her course day.

the cost of the course is $245 per person and doesn't include lunch or refreshments.
you don't need a helmet or any formal protective gear, but your car should be in reasonable condition with working brakes! in addition to your own food & drink, i would recommend that you bring sunscreen, a hat and some aeroguard (believe me, the flies at AIR are very annoying)
there are plenty of spots available at this stage, so i encourage you to invite other people (they don't have to drive a sportscar). please let me know which day you want to go on and who will be going with you if you're bringing non-Supra people like family/friends (each person must have their own car).
October 29 (Wednesday)
supralicious (Tom)
November 11 (Tuesday)
250pluss (Sonia from Fours n More)
this Level 1 course traditionally feeds into the Level 2 High Performance trackday that i organise every year up at Mallala, so if you are interested in going out onto the racetrack, there are plenty of places left for SA Supra forum members on November 19 (Wednesday).
