Your hand brake will probably be bolted to the side of the trans tunnel with two or three bolts. The cable is generally released like the cable in a pushbike brake lever- take the tension off, and rotate the cable to the slot and slide out sideways.

To swap it out this is all you should need to do. You may need to adjust the tension on the new cable, but to actually adjust the 'braking' this is generally done in the drum by rotating a star shaped washer looking thing.(assuming it is a similar system to other 90s era Toyotas.)

Just make sure the car is chocked both forwards AND backwards. (yes that mistake has been made before!)

shouldnt be to hard but youll need to either get a biggy back ecu or after market so that you can run the setup with either a maffless tune or a different airflow meter all together and then tune the map for the fuel your gunna need to feed it. ive always thought of trying it just to play with till i do the motor swap. would be interesting. hope it goes well.

as for those speakers ive started seeing a few cars around with that extra pair of speakers. its not a year change thing and its not the top spec thing. its most probably an option and im still yet to see it in blue :(

i got some room in the garage - im going to have the setup on a table and add to it over next 6 months or so ,

so i can drop it all in at one time and hopefully all is good

:) sounds like an awesome plan. I know people bad 1g's but in the 2 years I've had mine I've enjoyed every drive. Heap reliable. Enough power to still have fun and something about that sound. Its addictive:) can only imagine the fun of a single turbo on it. Well besides the lag :)

turbo - manifold has arrived -

25t comp wheel
48×66comp cover
.60 a/rturbine wheel
51×43.5 a/r turbine

the turbo feels real nice when i spin it by hand.....

so next step is not now buy some oil - water feed - return lines,

will get the dumppipe and pipe to intercooler done at same time once installed in car ....

and along the way - try n get each upgrade happening...

as i wont be running high boost with it for some time - internal wastegate should do me ??

Why is there a blocked oil line, is there one for each turbo on the 1G? But yes, basically, thats it Water and Oil to the turbo, Water and Oil from the turbo.

yeah looks like there is two lines coming from motor one to each turbo...

( going by some info from other 1g single owners )

i will have to check if there is a return line that needs to be blocked...

( i was told you can block off the water lines and only run oil through your turbo )

but means alot more warming up and cooling down + having water going thorught turbo can help the life of the turbo ??? )

If its a water cooled turbo, run water. not to is signing its death certificate.

So the gaskets i have from the manifold to engine look allright - but to get new ones made just to be safe

whats the best way to go about it... ?

do i buy gasket material and trace the shapes over the top and try cut them out my self ?

is there a shop where i can take the old ones and get them copied ??

i have oil both lines - plus bolts ( braided lines )
and water lines plus bolts - all bought and waiting for delivery.... slowly ill get there

changed the handbrake over - i now have working handbrake .... :aggressive:

any reason why the 87 supra has a thicker handbrake cord -

while the 88 ma70 has a thin little handbrake cord...

is to save costs - or the thinner cord is still the same strengh ?

mmm they maybe made out of a stronger material. they never go cheaper on brake parts. id say itll be just as strong if not stronger. ive always had an amazing handbrake and most people with a70 say the same. whats it like now yours is working?? it should be able to break traction on the back wheels no matter what :D
oh and hold on steap hills :) hehehe. have you done the front brake change yet??

yeah the handbrake works fine and grabs - just the ratchet part was stuffed.....

yeah brakes will go on soonish ......

depends how i go with the turbo install

as need new gaskets -

dump pipe from turbo

pipe from turbo to interccoler,

and get these turbo lines n bolts right etc ...
