Hardy you have the choice of some straight up complete kits -

for the 2jz - :) I would of gone a complete kit if they had any for the 1ggte motor - but no

so you might get a decent kit all up for 600 - 800 buckeroos, with a big chunky cooler :)

an $800 cooler is only good for up to 300kw bare that in mind. Anything around the 100mm thickness or 150mm thickness is over $2k.

Hey, good write up :)
Just wondering (if you wouldn't mind answering)
where you got that 'cooler from and how big is it?
I'm looking into one and keep reading "intercooler is 600X300X75" and thinking "OH GREAT!"
'till they say that's only the core size and it's actually something stupid like 800X450X75 haha
Thanks :)

Hey bud - i bought the intercooler from Reaper here on the forums - he originally had it on his stealth bomber A80 supra... :)

So not to sure where he got it from originally - ( it came with the a80 pipes as well - to no use on my supra )

This one measures 600 x 300 x 80mm total length is about 750mm long

hope that helps

Ah okay haha.
Well that helps a bit, 'cause I have a GA70 as well, which has the same front end (I think all A70's do anyway haha) as my MA70.
Thanks mate :)

its come about time when i need to get rid of the lag i have ....
ive been told that the size of my intercooler shouldnt make such a substantial increase of lag.... ( ive seen other ga70's with a big front mount with stock turbos )

and that there may be a problem some where else .....

what should i do ....

get a dump pipe and high flow cat installed ?

electronic boost controller ?

go for a smaller intercooler ?

maybe get some one like brenton to check over the supra ?

thanks :thanku:

You left out bigger motor. 1J should squeeze in a treat :)

or option 2

sell A70 and by a TT A80 no lag then :ok:

the only real things you can do with the 1g's and this is the same problem im facing is get a better motor.

Ill probably do the 1jz conversion in the end. mainly cause its easy. But i would love the idea of a 2jz 6speed.

the only real things you can do to a g is internals and bigger single turbos, bigger injectors, etc. There is a guy in auz (not sure where) that is all about 1g. he can get in full set ups for the 1gs. but yeh i think its a little pricey. i have seen it done and the results aren't bad considering. but its big bucks and there is always the famed unreliability of the 1g. though im yet to have any drama's (fingers crossed).

what exhaust are you running at the moment? what intake? whats the condition of the running gear?? motor, trans, etc? mines starting to loose power on take off and high end boost and i know for a fact that its cause my clutch is on the way out. but yeh it could come down to things just getting tired. So depends on price range.

the whole car has done 127,000 kms -

exhaust is 3 n half allway to standard cat - no dump pipe....

600 bucks for high flow cat and dump pipe might help as a start ...

and Darren id love a a80 TT :)

Gordo don't say that, there are a few high powered 1Gs out there, like that guy in QLD who runs a 9.7 second quarter mile with his 1G!

Never heard of a famed unreliability, i know my gen 1G is famed for its reliability and economy (yay...)

lol yeh. theres a guy on one of the forums going but 6boost that lives for 1g's. that do sound great but they cost heaps to maintain if you have to do big jobs and hard to find good parts for. the reason why i said they have problems is because they shoot there main bearings and head gaskets apparently. but nowhere near as bad as the 7M's :) but i do love the sound of the g on boost. just wish it could get better power. :( yours is great cause its a lot younger then ours. lol

At heart is it, but its still the same old design that was in the A70's.

I think you should all stop whinging and put 7m's in your cars :P
