not necessarily in the 2JZGTE.

I went the 3" turbo back route but to be honest looking back I wish I had retained the factory dump pipe and went with a 3" system the rest of the way back. I get huge boost spiking on cold nights, due to the exhaust being so free flowing.

Obviously more boost = more chance of turbos going bang bang, but mine are still going strong after 18months of 19psi+

Either way, definitely get some form of exhaust on, mine gave me an extra 44rwkw over stock.

i found that i gained quite a bit by adding a full 3" front pipe and a front mount to my system a few years ago (probably a 50rwkw gain) - i got my 265rwkw at the 2006 club dyno day because of this. i certainly felt the difference (a loss) when i put the standard front pipe + cat back on a few months later with the fmic still in place.

for the 2007 club dyno day, i fitted the Tune Agent dump + front pipe (which is one piece and longer than my previous custom front pipe) in the hope that better flow straight off the turbo would lead to more power - however, my dyno result (and boost) was exactly the same as 2006, so i have concluded that for stock turbos, a full system replacing the stock dump doesn't make a significant difference compared to a front pipe alone as the overall system boost is at maximum. i think that this is the same conclusion as RZ TT 94 above, but i don't have the boost spiking issues.

you will find that adding a good front mount (if you don't already have one) will also make a difference to response / boost (due to cooler & improved charge density) and therefore power.

cat back + front pipe = good
cat back + front pipe + dump pipe = no net gain, except for increased risk of boost spiking.

Dude, I would agree with both Matt&Kim on this subject.    :iagree: :iagree: :iagree: :iagree:
I've tested so many, combinations & think if you leave the std. dump you get best boost control & therefore best results. When you go 3" dump most of the power gain you see is mainly due to boost increase not all is flow related,so if you want max power go 3"dump & 3" full exhaust but, be prepared to add a F.C.D & dyno/set-up of this device and this will check fuel pump supply & keep fat A/F/ratios.....this will make your 2J (:notworthy: :notworthy:) happy & keep your Supra on the road
