Hey guys
I am looking at getting my hatch resprayed after I fix up some rust. I will probably do all the prep work myself to maybe save on some cost.
I was wondering if anyone has had experience in removing the seal around the rear window. I need to get to the rust.
How does it sit. I don't want to get a new seal unless I screw this one up getting it out.

Cheers
Soupy

Generally all cars are the same with it comes to windscreen rubbers. There is a groove all the way around the rubber that the glass sits into, then the whole thing is pushed in to the hole in the body for the window (similar groove on the outside of the rubber too).

I've never pulled a windscreen out of a Supra, so don't try this unless other people confirm they're just like all other cars. But the easiest way I've found to get windscreens out is to lay with your back on the rear seat and put your bare feet up on the window close to the sides and gently apply pressure with your legs. Someone else should be outside the car to make sure it doesn't pop out and fall. Although that may be very difficult in a Supra since it's a liftback and you can't just get to it by laying down on the back seat!

Sorry I can't be of much help.

It's very easy.

Employ max noob Commy driver at 120 kmph to rear of near stationery Supra vehicle - this will ensure accurate and complete removal of rear glass, then seal can simply be removed from hatch channel.

I don't recommend this method, but it does work.

BTW...got a rear seal if needed.

I might leave that for the last resort me thinks :P
Since you have the seal out, what does it look like? does the seal fit around the glass first and then fitted to the hatch or can it be installed after the glass is installed.

I Have the hatch off the car so I have plenty of access. I guess I will try to pull the seal out on it's own and see what's what.

Thanks guys, if you find out anymore info let me know.

Cheers
