hey guys as ive been slowly doing up the interior in my supra bit by bit as u guys know and have seen ie aftermarket dash, bucket seats, handbrake lever, door pods etc, im curious as to know if its illegal or not or possible to install say an isotta or aftermarket wheel on a car which came with factory air bags. i know the style and design i want just didnt know if its worth having done or not ie the price of disabling the air bags is worth up and above the price of the aftermarket isotta wheel i would like :)

btw heres a pic of my interior

Nice pic.

Aftermarket steering wheels will generally be considered 'illegal', whether they are in fact or not.

There is a good article on mkiv.com I believe on removing the stock steering wheel on a MKIV that has airbags - you can do it yourself. Having said that, I have never done it.

I also have a MOMO millenium sitting here somewhere, gathering dust... :D

OEM airbag does look lame by today's standards.

My advice, don't lose the bag for appearance sake -

get the TRD airbag replacement eg. off Kinway, NIC etc via Honkers.

Done & done.

GL killage,

GEE

Don't get rid of the airbag dude, it could save your life one day.

Why not get one of the 'optional' series 2 carbon fibre steering wheels? It'll match your dash and retain the airbag.

Very true... <_< Would you believe I thought about putting it on the pulsar?? Decided not to - didn't want to disrespect the steering wheel...

from a forum member on here whom sold it to me but their is a company in QLD where u can send off your dash and whatever u want done in a CF look and they will do it all and send it back to you

it is heat resistant and scratch proof a massive step up from the factory dash i love it

ive only just come to realise this stupid me but if i ditch the wheel and air bag im also gonna loose all the cruise controls as well arent i ?

i didnt even think of that when thinkn of getting a aftermarket wheel cos my mate wants to buy mine if i go ahead with it but then i searched for prices on the stock wheels on ebay and they all look like the cruise control is actually attached to the air bag wheel ?

can any1 confirm this ?

cheers

matt
