I was thinking about grabbing the 2 pot fronts and 1 pot back brakes from Georges supra,
i wanted to know roughly how much are these brakes worth. .. ?
i was speaking to Jimmy, about the 4 pots front 2 pots back, id need to get custom brake mounts to make these fit as bigger brakes...
as its a bracket needed to be made up with holes further away from the hub to bolt up the bigger brakes
wondering if id have to get the same setup for the 2 pots and 1 pot....???
has any a70 done these brake upgrades ?????

Brake Conversion A80 - a70

To get the a80 brakes to work in an a70 supra you need to make custom brackets for the mounting of them. This is because the a80 hubs have a wider and further out mounting points for the brakes, to accommodate the larger rotors the a80 has.
The bracket needs to be a solid piece of metal with 2 holes to match up to the stock a70 mounts and then two tapped holes mounted further away to line up with the a80 brakes. This also cant just be a solid flat piece of metal it needs to be ground down thinner where the holes line up to the a70 hubs, else you will have the calliper sitting too far towards the inside of the car. The amount that needs to be grounded off also needs to be calculated so the new brakes sit perfectly in the middle of the rotor being used. Also when grinding back that bracket to allow for perfect alignment it is also weakens the mounting bracket. This is why a lot of brake upgrades get the thumbs down from an engineer as the material used isn’t as strong as the stock mountings.
The size of the bracket also needs to be taken into consideration as the size rotor being used (most likely the a80 standard 330mm?) so it all lines up correctly. The time and effort required to make a bracket up so it all lines up correctly and has decent structural strength outweighs the gain over a off the shelf aftermarket item.
A person on the national forums upgraded to the 4/2 setup and his opinion was it isn’t worth the hassle. It cost him well over 1.5k to get it all done. I also believe it’s the celsior or some other Toyota which runs 4 pots and 2 pots that are actually better than the a80 setup as they are approx the same size and are ½ the weight due to material used.
If you’re really serious about upgrading to bigger brakes a reasonable priced upgrade is the Wilwood kit new or also 2nd hand Alcon or another Japanese brand. Spencer off these forums has gone the r32 brake upgrade kit available off the national forums and says it’s a reasonable upgrade but he also got all his parts very cheap.
I will be looking at using the z30 hubs and the supra 4/2 setup on my soarer when I get around to doing it. This way I wont need to make up any spacer plates but I will be needing to buy camber top wishbone and possibly modify my coilovers to incorporate a camber top as the z30 hubs don’t line up perfectly. Not to mention this is also taking into account a lot of luck with it all lining up and allowing for enough adjustment.
Before you even start to explore doing a full upgrade on your brake system I would suggest trying;
RDA slotted rotors front and rear
EBC green stuff pads
Better fluid.
Also if you want to splash out that little bit more braided brake lines as these can be used on your next set of brakes anyway if further upgrading is needed.
I know a few people using this and only heard of brake fade once on the street and a few times on the track.
