Hi all,

as much as this tears me apart to share the fate of one of these majestic machines, the structural integrity of the A80 in this circumstance has blown me away :notworthy:
Never would I have expected one to endure such impact: near stationary, hit on the RH rear corner at approx 120+ kmph, spun 20m into a rather sturdy tree and thrown back onto the road having completed 360 or 720 (details all a bit blurry I'm afraid).

Onboard:driver and two passengers - one of whom is 6'1" was folded into the back seat behind the driver (me) miraculously, came out relatively unscathed considering the car was shortened by a couple of inches on the RH side.

I NEVER would have given these vehicles such credibility to endure the force of impact and protect the occupants the way it did - what a blessing!

So here's what's left of my baby; we're absolutely devastated but ever so grateful we're ok (ish).

Later all...Sonia :(

Holy Crap, glad to hear everyone is ok, kinda.

Sux when accidents happen. I've seen some Supras absolutely bent beyond belief and the people inside just walk away. I myself do think they are one sturdy piece of 'quip too. Meaty even. Porky? maybe, but you're sure glad of that now eh?

What happened? Wet roads, rear end stepped out? - classic Supra behaviour.

Did your file attachment not work for some reason? Sounds like Damo will assist anyway.

Car is gone now I presume, Fillet'll be cheesed - he loved that dawg.

OK, cya, glad no one was badly hurt!

GTE next? Gaaarrnn.

GEE

Damn just saw the piccy Damo loaded for you. Thank your luck stars you wern't side on to the dickhed when he hit you ( sorry you probably didnt need that thought ) Im just glad you guys are up and walking.

Hope you all recover
Cheers
Darren

Thank you Damo...email sent, very much appreciated.

None of my doing Gav -

I was heading south in a hundred km zone (one lane each way) indicating to turn right into rural driveway - the cars behind me slowed, but the smartarse in the commodore (also heading south) decided to overtake us all in a single hit - and collected me as I turned in...first I knew of his existence was approx 1 nano-second before he hit us.

I'm sooo sad - I know Doc will be too

what happened? Ive seen supra's (a70 and 80) hot poles, walls etc at highish speeds and still manage to be driven home! so yes they are well built, hence the 1400+kg curb weight
pictures and details of car?
insurance job im guessing :(

EDIT: just read post above, that sucks big time. Im always scared thats going to happen to me while i try and get low cars in and out of my driveway. only ever turn left into it now.

Bloody hell !

Thanks for getting the pic up Damo, a picture tells a thousand words.

Sonia, you must have felt like absolutely braining the idiot that pulled that move. Did anyone belt this idiot?

Sorry to see, another Supra bites the dust. That dent looks quite serious, not sure if the car will recover from that one.

Still, as long as no one was really hurt is the main game.

Cya,
GEE

Such a shame, sad news to hear but good news that everyone walked away from this. You can replace cars, cant replace lives.

Maybe not a write-off, new tailgate/rear-bar/rear wing, rear suspension/bushes/diff?

Engine and gearbox will be fine, even if it is a write off, it will still be fairly lucrative to get the $$$ back.

Surely the nissan loving Brenton (cough*traitor) will chuck the 2JZ into a Datsun Silvia or the like.

Pass on my regards, and best of luck with insurance etc.

Hmmm - she's pretty twisted: LH rear guard gone too, roof buckled, driver's window, front spoiler, fuel tank+++

Brenton wishes to publicly state that he does not classify himself as described above - a Toyota man through and through (with some Peugeot blood contaminating in there somewhere)! :D

But thank you (ALL) for your sentiments  - we'll keep you posted on the verdict.

 Sonia

It's a shame to see something so beautiful go to waste, although as everyone else is, i'm glad everyone is alright. as for the other driver what happened to him? DUI in the middle of the day or just being an idiot?

Damn...I've been interstate the last week and gave Brent a call this morning about my Supe only to hear this!

Was so glad to hear you got out ok! It is miracle you guys walked away after some idiot whacks in at 120kph! I hear you're both still pretty sore still from whiplash so I hope you improve quickly.

Also I just hate to see these cars getting written off..too few now...but thats just secondary.

Hope you get enough payout to pick up the pieces and get another MkIV !

Good luck to you and Brent,

Mirc
