CAMS Licencing and the other bits that go with it.

Just having a poke around the Mallala site and saw that for any of the practice days, you need to buy a one day temp cams level 2(i think) license. Which then got me poking around for a full year or so license.
Basically, the thought process here is this;
What is involved in becoming an official club and also then getting CAMS accreditation, so that we can then me the man in the middle for people to get their CAMS license?
Personally i think this is a great thing to look into, as it would give us a bit more of an official look and feel having something like attached to the club name. I was poking around looking while at work, but didn't have a chance to look deeply into it. I think some one else that has a bit more time than me, should look into it some more.
Any way, what do you guys think of that? Even if we dont go the CAMS route, being an official club (i dont think we are registered as yet) would be a good idea seeing as we seem to be growing in numbers. Obviously the powers that be would be the ones that would decide ont his, but thought i would just throw a bit of food for tought around to see what every one else thinks.

From what i understand it is easier just to become affiliated under a club that already has CAMS Accredibility. I don't know how the moetary side of things work, but that would be something that would be required to get looked into...
However to make it viable you really need a relatively large group of people to commit to becoming CAMS Licensed.

I don't want to be affiliated with a GSR/EVO club. Do you know why? Because I don't drive a GSR/EVO! They are great cars but we should be trying to make the SA Supra club one of the biggest and best clubs in SA.

Fair enough. If it works out best for the club then it should be considered

I agree with andy, 20 financial members isnt enough to make the jump at the moment. But i was just throwing it up for a plan to make it to that kind of status, or as close to it as we can get.

maybe something can be drawn up, like, the higher ups thoughts about what kind of number we would need, financial and non financial, the participation rate of the non financials to help compensate or something along those lines.
I just want to see this club go from not much to the best there ever was, is and will be kinda thing and i want to help!

Its the usual story people I have approached businesses myself and some are interested in getting involved with the Club. Usually the First Question is How many members do you have and how many are Financial. Its a bit like chasing your tail, we need more to get more. I was involved with a Commodore Club at one stage and we got some pretty good deals on parts and stuff because we had plenty of paid up members( aprox 150 till we got absorbed by SMASA )

In my honest opinion the clubs current membership fee structure and benefits are in need of a complete overhaul, the current structure is just not working.
If we as a club are to grow we need to get out of the "they should come to us" mentality and attract new financial members, for this club to grow financially it needs to be run like a business. As you know Darren a business is not successful if it remains in the same stagnant state for a long period of time...
in the last 6 months how many financial members have joined? 4/5 max? this is not good...
I know this is all well and good to say, however you might say to me... "so what can we do to make it better" and yes I do have quite a few opinions/advice that I think would be beneficial to the club, however there is no appropriate avenue to make them at the moment... who should I bring these opinions up with? Boost Samarui? Gav? Andy? I really dont know.
The club needs to get some structure, ie. President, Co-ordinators etc... Only when this is set in stone can the club finalise ideas and move forward.
The current membership benefits are not attractive to the average supra owner, people do not want to contribute money if they do not receive anything PHYSICAL in return simultaneously. By "people" I mean the general public. If merchandise and stickers is part of the deal for financial members they should receive these as soon as they become financial.
There are many many more supras popping up around little old adelaide, we need to attract these new owners with something that they deem beneficial.
my 2c.
ps: anything anyone wishes to discuss with me in relation to this can be done so by PM or by mobile on 0421288733, cheers. Matty

As for a restructure, im with matt on this one. While i think Mark has been doing a bang up job getting us to where we are, i don't think that he has the time for commitment that he once had.
ideally, i think we should have el presidente reside to co el presidente? Honestly, with out bias or disrespect to ANY ONE AT ALL i just think we need some one that is more involved with the club to be able to have a bit of power. Some one like Andy who seems to be on here every waking hour of the day seeing what were all up to would be a place to start i believe.
I do believe that a hierarchy is in order, or if there is one, to make it more pronounced than what it is at the moment. Just so we have a line of people that we can go and speak to, rather than having a lucky dip so to speak.
i also have an idea or two, nothing super dooper thatll win us every car show ever, but small things that might help us get off the groud a bit better.

Hate to drag up this old subject fellas but its time for a proper club meeting so we can elect / re-elect Club Committee members. After that need to seriously sit down and work out any issues or desires for the Club. I will contact a few Mods and Committee people and organize a FIRM date.
Keep your eyes peeled for future developments OK
Cheers
Darren
