Hey guys

Thought i might give an upate on my problem with the second turbo not coming on line during it's run on the dyno day.

As those on the day may remember Sootie on the day just pipped my TT for the wooden spoon in his stock NA (no hard feelings mate).
I had it checked out by the guys at M.R.E hoping for dear life the second turbo hadn't cracked up on me. But I was saved.
They found a massive vacuum leak at the rear of the engine (a real sh!t of a place to find.

All in all, with new spark plugs and no vacuum leak I boosted past my miserable 105rwkw  to a respectable 206rwkw.

I remember Chuck_E may have had a similar boost prob. How did you go finding the prob mate?

Just thought y'all might wanna know in case the same boost issues happen to any one else in the future.

Thanks also for all the members on the Dyno Day making me feel welcome. And thanks especailly to M.R.E for nutting things out.

Cheers and thanks :thanku:

SOUPY

I should probably add that Chuck_E hasn't had a chance to look into his turbo issues properly yet either... :(

When he does, I fear for us all!

Sorry for the lag, only just caught up on this thread today.

That is excellent news Si ! Great to hear it wasn't a painful, long fix eg. 2nd snail.
200+rwkw result on the dyno is excellent too - shows the car is probably pretty healthy.

Nice mob @ MRE aren't they? Laid back blokes.

Cheers mate, cya next event.

Gav

Hey mate,
Good to hear your problems are over, at least one of us is boosting properly again.
For those that are unaware I have also been having turbo issues.
So far I have replaced both turbos and even the actuator as I thought that may have been the issue. (2nd snail was definately blown) Replacing actuator has not solved my issues. Strangely though I sometimes get full boost but most of the time I run on only the one snail.

Anyways will PM soupy to ask some questions.

Cheers Chuck_E :thanku:

You will have to go through your entire vacuum system. If you get boost sometimes it could be a leaky vacuum tank. I have a similar problem ( not as bad as yours ) sometimes so I will be replacing all actuators and lines and vacuum tank during the rebuild. All my shit was installed 13 years ago and 192000 k's of underbonnet heat probably havn't been all that kind.

Hope you find yor problems bud.

Cheers
Darren
