Ok... just received my tax cheque back and am looking at getting some new headlights.
I have a dilemma. Get the glass euro headlights or get the updated series 2 lights.

I can get the Euros for around $750 delivered.. or the series 2 for around $950 delivered.
I am leaning toward the series 2 as they arent as popular as the euro's and I would prefer my car to be a little different.

Ideally I would like to get the glass euros, open them up and paint the background black to make them look like series 2 lights however I dont know how effective this would be. Yiros any idea?

For those who dont know here is a photo of the series 2 lights..

I wouldn't open a new set of lights unless there is/was a problem. If you like the black back ground then go series 2. Also the series 1 lights (Euros or not) have a slightly diffused lens where the Series 2 lens are much clearer.

You will need to consider buying update indicators as the series 2 headlights do not contain an integral park light. These can be bought for around $190 + $35 for an extra loom.

series 2 for a black car..... ties in very nicely...... ( especially if want something new, different)

but for a lighter coloured car id say eurolights..... or normal lights....

my 2 bobs worth

us mk3 owners can keep our lights hidden away :)

I've got them. Look wicked.

But don't paint them.

No multi vitamins for your car sammy.

Mine were crystal clear when my car came from Japan. After a year or so in Australia, they started discolouring. We have a huge hole in the Ozone that makes us turn pink if we are out in the sun too long. It’s not like the Greek islands where you apply SPF 4 sunscreen and turn an nice golden brown after being in the sun all day

if i decide on getting euros i will get you a set matt... but you could always just send an email and get them yourself... not really that hard ;)

series 2 are looking good at the moment...

$950 delivered for series 2 lights
$185 delivered for updated indicators
$36 delivered for updated clear side indicators

Yiros... the extra loom for the late model front indicators is pretty essential is it not? Bit of a btich of a job to install them from what I have heard. Also... Yiros.. if I were to get the above items would I be able to acquire your personal expertise for an afternoon for a little $$?

cheers fellas. matt

Get the updated clear indicators from Nic. They cost me $190 delivered. The extra loom isn't essential, it just makes the job neater. If you buy series 2 lights, you will need to keep the fog lamp connectors from the series 1 as they are different.

I can help you with the wiring.

I would get euros.

1. They are cheaper. Put left over money towards something else. Why there is a price difference between these two...? $950 for plastic lights! Get f**ked if you ask me...

2. They will never go yellow from uv rays

Either one you choose you will be happy as both will suit your car. Its a top mod if you ask me.

Whoah, thread necro

No idea, can't recall what the end result was.

IMO get S2 lights, they look far better and if you look after them properly they will look great for a very long time.

I think he sold the car with the original headlights in it. So no outcome really.

I say go glass and never have fading issues
