Hi Brenton and Sonia,

Just wanted to ask you, i have a couple of bits and pieces coming my way over the next month or so. Namely parts to do a 4 and 2 pot brake upgrade to me early model 2 and 1 pot supra brakes.

What i have are:
Genuine late model supra -
2 X 4 Pot Front Calipers (Include Shim kit and Fitting kit)
2 X 2 Pot Rear Calipers (Include Shim kit and Fitting kit)

DBA4718 Slotted (handed L&R) front rotors
DBA4719 Slotted (handed L&R) rear rotors

CEB138 front Hawk pads
CEB139 rear Hawk pads

and all im missing are braided lines and some good brake fluid to finish the job

I basically just want to gauge from you what the cost would be to fit everything if i supplied all of the bits and pieces to you. And would it need to be done all at once or can i do the front first and then the rears later? And can you just check for me that the bits i have are compatible.

Any info you can pass on would be great.

Cheers,
kam

ps. i have your supra club shirts. will drop them to you soon.

Would you upset the brake bias by , say putting the 4 pots on with singles on the back??

Dont know what the case would be there but i think it would make a difference in the bais, I assume your fronts will be breaking harder and faster than your rears. Might feel kinda wrong.

A few guys in NZ and England have only replaced the Fronts as the single piston rear volume is the same size (or very close ) to the twin piston caliper volume.

if u get a good deal, might as well do all 4 corners, apparently on sf.com.au theres a guy called thadius who can get front calipers and rear clipers for 4/2 setup for $1k new from NZ. buy some aftermarket rotors like trd, brembo or stock or el cheapo ones local, and its a cheap worthy upgrade.

This upgrade as far as i am concerned is extremely worthy, if youre going to have a powerful car you need to be able to stop it. Would love to have gone to something massive like a set of brembos.

But from what my big bro tells me the specs on the stock supra 4 and 2 pots are very impressive. And theyre a great alternative esspecially if you dont want to blow thousands on big brakes.

Youre looking at $8K+ for a full brembo upgrade but for stock 4 and 2pots with decent rotors, pads, braided lines and fluids probably around 3K+

Only doing it now as my brakes need a service and i dont want to waste money on "just" a service, id rather get the upgrade and do the lot. Killing many birds with one stone so to speak.

Fully agree Kam , when I do the upgrade it will be fronts and rears as well. As for braided hoses they actually dont improve feel like alot of people think.I have researched the benefits and other than " BLING " no point. Also they are for some reason not LEGAL (something to do with the way they are constructed. There is at least one brand which are made correctly but try proving that to the bloke putting the canary on your window )

Need to find a Cheap source of Front and rear calipers, but before I do that I need to see if my Front rims will fit on a Supra with big brakes on it. Any body want a visitor one day for a rim swapping session?

Cheers all
Darren

Iv'e got braided lines, had to replace 1 of them. Adelaide brake make them up on the spot and theres a tag saying that they comply. expensive though.

On the specs for my rims its says that they are able to clear big break brembos, so 4 and 2 pots shouldnt be an issue.

And with the braided lines, i wasnt really considering them as being a performance addition or a bling thing. I thought that they would just be a better alternative to the current brake lines in terms of durability and longevity etc.

Hopefully i can get it done over the next couple of months. Will keep you posted.

Howdy Kam,

if you have all the parts available, we would advise you do the whole job at once. We can get ADR approved braided brake hoses (with coloured options available) manufactured to suit, and the job could be done in 1-2 days (depending on wait time for hoses). Labour and brake fluid est $300 - hoses we would need to measure before we quote, but should be in $250 - $400 range - all Street Legal.

Hope this helps,
Catchya Soon...
Sonia :bye:

Hi Kam,

glad you've finally got all your 'bits' sorted - Brenton will call you Thursday or Friday this week (he's not in 2moro) to arrange a time that suits - we don't have a massive waiting time at the moment, and should be able to accomodate you fairly quickly if needed....maybe catch up on those Tee's too! :D

:offtopic: Chris (TEFE) - Brenton will call you too regarding your PM.

HI to ALL :friends:

Kind regards,
Sonia.
