Yo,

As discussed with some of y'all, I'm gettin the general hazard light flashin during idol every now and then. Topped up clutch and brake fluid and power sterring is fine. Temp is normal so it ain't coolant. No oil light, so I'm a little confused.

Question the first - When Polak explained it, I was apparently off with the Supra fairies...pullin codes...quick explanation?

Question the second - What engine oil are people's using?

Cheers Supra freaks,

:loco:

NFI with the codes Loco. Yiros would most likely be the man to speak to.

In regards to oil:

Having had a chat to Brenton at Fours N More, he recommended Mobil 1, of at least 10W-40 ish range. Any thinner and can burn too easily (apparently causing detonation in some cases).

I am currently running Motul 5w-30. Apparently this is too thin. So when its time to do the oil next, I'm going back to Mobil 1. It is burning through a bit lately actually... :hmmm:

I still can't find Mobile 1 10W-40. I am due to change my oil in 500km so any help would be great.

My apologies: 10W-30 is fine.

Have a read:
http://www.mobil.com/Australia-English/LCW...ces/Mobil_1.asp

Note that it even recommends 15W-50 for performance engines... (a much thicker oil than the one im currently using) :hmmm:

Hope it helps.

If you are only getting the General warning light and not the check engine light, then your ECU will not log errors as there are none

If you want to try an pull the codes you basically connect the TE1 & E1 terminals (at the diagnostic plug either in the engine bay (near the inlet manifold on a NA) or the diagnostic plug in the dash (under the steering wheel) with a piece of wire. Turn the ignition and the check engine light should start to flash. If there are a sequence of flashes eg 4 flashes pause then 2 flashes, then you have code 42. If the light flashes continuously with no pauses, then you have no errors.

I hope this helps. Give me a call if you need a hand. I am off to Melbourne this evening so catch you next week.
