Hey guys

Sup guys

I havn't been on for a while as i lost my license and gave up on my cars =[...

The other day me and Dad went out and fixed the celica! Turns out the thermostat wasn't working... We arn't sure if the head gasket is cracked, but we put some Chem Weld i think it was and no bubbles in the radiator and no smoke. So i'm pretty happy, just got to sell it now.

And i finally got motivated to do the Supra, so Dad and i have been out there all day... We got a near new dash installed, looks sweet! We are now trying to get the engine running.. I'll take some pics when we go back out =] By the way, does anyone know where the fuel pump is in a MA61? And it's electrical yeh?

I get my P's back in 3 months... Does anyone know if i have to go back on my L's or anything? Any information would be nice as i know nothing lol...........

Thanks ^___^

Insurance for P-Platers?

Hi all,

I am in the process of buying a supra, and have been looking at various insurance providers to cover it.
After looking very thoroughly, i found SGIC will cover me (As a second driver), but only for an agreed value of $7480. Unfortunately this amount will not cover the total car costs, and i will not be fully covered in the occurence of an accident.

I have looked at AAMI, Just Car, Allianz, Budget Direct, ING, You I, CGU, and Shannons, all of which either do not insure a supra, or criteria must be met in order to do so. In order to get my supra insured, i believe that i may have to go to a broker, is this true?

Also, as this is a car club, and if i were to pay the membership fee ($20?), what am i entitled to, and would i have benefits in insuring a supra?

Thanking you,

Hey people

Well, here's my n00b introduction on this forum lol

I'm Murry, bought a Supra few months back from some guy who had it in storage for ages, so swept off the cobwebs and started to mod it a little.
It's a NA JZA80 94 Supra. I've come from owning about 5 turbo cars before this so going to NA i thought would be bad...aaaaand then i drove a Supra

So yeah fairly happy with the power it's got as i use it daily, might do extractors in the future or even more , but it's a good engine none the less. I just love the Supra interior & exterior, and she handles great too. Look forward to seeing some of you's out n about!

Cheers

Few Questions

Hey guys i have a few questions:

1. With the coolant is this meant to have a pipe that is meant to be going down into the tube.

This look old?

2. What does this do? i was told this is pointless having it on my car?

3. For the rocker cover, it has screws on the top - these need a allen (i think thats how u spell it) key to open it. Would undoing these screws release the cover so i can spray paint it? - Paint would need to be heat proof wouldn't it?

4. What the hell is this??? where does it go?

8. How can i get these globes out, same deal with the speaker covers - i didnt want to yank on it, incase i broke it, ALSO where can i get real bright white LED's or globes for it?
I'll be driving and suddenly i'll lose power to pretty much everything. Ignition, deck, dash etc and the ABS' light comes on.
During the period I am unable to accelerate or do pretty much anything. The car does not stall though. After about 2 seconds it all goes back to normal. Has happened twice now, anyone have any ideas?

Hi all,

You all know the current state of affairs with my car at the moment, and it has come to the stage where it would be easier to pull the motor out and start the re-assembly of it outside the car rather then it still being in it.

Just looking to borrow an engine holder for a month or two (depends on how fast re-assemply of the long block is)
If anyone has one that they are willing to lend me, please PM me or leave a reply here.

I have a trailer, so I'll be able to sort out pick up and drop off.

Car finally finished yesterday + today = crash

My car was freshly fixed ready to take photos and advertise for sale so I can buy a TT. NOW....

Pulling out of my drive way this afternoon, I always pull out really slow because i scrape on the driveway.

The rear of the car is hanging outside the drive way (stopped), and you can hear it from a mile away. Then suddenly a little Aboriginal girl is going down my street on the footpath WITHOUT a helmet at a high speed on her bike and decides to drive it straight into the rear of my car.

She hits it and gets the tiniest scratch on her leg.. NOT A CUT, SCRATCH. And her father decides to have a go at me and threaten me. He tells me he's abo and i need to get the fuck out of his country. A witness in his car across the road decides to come over, he tells the abo father that its his daughters fault and that I reversed out slowly and she could have avoided it if she knew how to ride properly. Anyway, my dad comes outside and the abo starts having a go at him and the witness, the witness drives off while this abo guy is acting like a dumbass. Telling me I should honk my horn everytime I go out.

Well it all ends, now im stuck with a dented boot and cracked paint, damaged tailights and rear bar. Which I will now have to fork out my own money to repair it all, just as I finished my car, ready to sell it this weekend. And the abo will probably come back to my house to cause trouble again, we all know what they are like. Because they can, they can do what they want and get a slap on the wrist.

Initially I was feeling really bad for the girl, even though it wasnt my fault, I went inside to get an icepack etc.. and make sure she was ok, now I dont really care. The father was more interested in having a go at me, than checking to see if she was ok. HE RAN TO MY CAR TO YELL AT ME, BEFORE EVEN CHECKING HIS DAUGHTER. What scum.

Ill probably have to edit this once I've calmed down, but thats the story for now. Will post up some pics later on.

Well, it seems as though my previous membership disappeared when the new web page came alive. The site wouldn't recognise my old login ID (markmac55), password or email address, and I didn't get any responses from my emails, so I rejoined under a new pseudonym.

I didn't want to lose contact mostly because of some of the valuable advice received from some of the members (ICE and CDUCTV in particular), and was working a deal with King Kye (who has also disappeared from the members list) - I need to contact him as a matter of priority.

While I was in limbo I had some headlight problems which were very quickly responded to by the members of Supraforums, although things got a little out of hand and went off on a tangent when the discussion of 'headlights' and 'high beams' kind of degenerated a bit.

I would have gone on today's cruise, but high temperatures and I don't get on very well, so I hibernated in the A/C. Hope all that went had a good time.

I've seen a number of soops around of late on my way to or from work, and always give a wave which is usually returned with a smile and a wave back. Either they are moving too fast to get the number plate, or I am, so I don't know if it's any of the membership, but if you see me on the road, give me a toot.

If you want a really good read, get onto the Supraforums and read the thread "You know you're a supra owner when ...." It's all too true.

Catch you all later.
How many kms is to many?
whats the best path of modifications to take? exhuast, boost controller etc etc you guys will know much more than i do as this will be the first turbo car i will be working with.

Hey guys

Haven't been on the forums in a while, been busy i guess... The latest goss is my Celica has a blown head gasket to my knowledge =[ Apparently i didn't check my radiator... And I'm probably loosing my license soon for speeding... 115km in a 110 zone, but P platers are only aloud to do 100, as you all probably know... I also got defected, but i got that off ASAP...

So if i do get this big break, then i will save up in the Christmas holidays and buy a new engine for my Celica. I don't know why, but I've literally become attached to it... I guess i would just like some opinions on engine choice. I'm looking at going for a 3S-GE, i don't need a turbo =x So yeh, most of you will probably say don't worry about it, it's not worth it bleh bleh... But it is worth it =]

Is there a cheap alternative maybe? I saw a MR2 half cut for $2500. So yeh, opinions please =]

Exhaust for my Supra

Hey guys just wanting some advice,

I'm looking at getting a exhaust for my 1994 NA Supra, i don't want it to be extremely loud, just nice.

I have done a few searches on the forums and everybody is recommending Synergy and Brenton & Sonia (Fours N More). I'll be looking at becoming a financial member soon too, not just for the discount tho.

Is there anybody in particular i should speak to at Synergy? and are Brenton and Sonia still at Fours N More?? (I got the info from an old thread)

A lot of people are saying to get an off the shelf system from HKS, Apexi, JDM, Trust. Are these systems still good, or is one of them better then the other?

I have done a bit of research into these systems, and honestly i have no idea. Just wondering what you guys would recommend/have on your rides?

Cheers

Im a Noobie

Hey everyone,

My name is Kent and my ride is a silver 1994 Aero Roof non-turbo, auto Supra. Stock as they come, even has the original tools still in the boot. I would have loved a manual but I have a foot injury so unfortunately...... yeah.

I was tossing up whether to get a twin turbs or an aero roof and I decided it was easier to put in a turbo than chop out a roof. lol

With mods I haven't done anything yet, but I do have plans, One of the first is a nice (not heaps loud) exhaust, tinting, nice body kit, and then some engine work.

I know a bit about cars but I'm sure I will be asking a few questions now and then.

Cheers

Hello everyone,

i have had my 93 RZ (black) since 02 but havent been out much since 04. i used to spend more time modding it then driving it due to budget constraints. the family and such is the main reason.
i used to have grand plans but i never really finished it. some of you guys who have been around since the early days may remember my car from the drags and anzacs and stuff. i have done some custom stuff, i am the only one i know of anywhere with twin exhausts (one each side) custom fuel tank etc.

years ago i imported some US spec turbs and set them up TTC. when the sa forums first got up people talked about it. i managed 327RWKW at 20psi at wilalls but have never been able to produce that boost on the street (16psi), i havn't really tried to track down the problem but i am pretty sure it is a wastegate spring issue. i did however manage a 12.0 at 120mph with a 1.8 60ft but i think at 16psi i would have only been around 270rwkw or something, i really should get it re dynoed. never the less i haven't really driven the car since 04. it was ridiculus letting it just sit so i have re registered it and insured it and am driving it as is to get some use out of it.
i used to be fanatical about this stuff and back in 02 the street action was pretty good, but i am just happy to run amok quietly now so i thought i would say hello and let you guys know i exist and i might come along to a cruise one day maybe. if that is ok.
now that it is back on the street i have lots of small things to fix up but i think i will do them bit by bit instead of pulling it off the road as this is a real trap.

also, has anyone else been following the gt28 hybrid stock set up being developed in the states, looks like a good option the way the cops are now with defects and that bullshit.

cheers,

Its been 2 years :)

hey guys.

Today it has been 2 years since i bought my MA61 and became a proud supra owner it was on August 15th 2006, that I handed over $4950 to the dealer down south, and bought the supra he had on the lot, but i will admit it was in better condition at the time, and its when it had a somewhat sick motor in it. I did have pics of it back then, but i dont know where they are, but hopefully I can find them.

But yea its been 2yrs, and for those 2yrs I was insured by Allianz, but as with everything, stuff changes, the supe is having a 2JZ fitted and now i'm insured with Shannons, and they graciously gave me Rating 1 .

So yea after I bought the supra, and started to get used to driving manual, as all I had driven was Auto, it was going to be a memorable path, and in november that year I found out about the club and the rest is history.

Off the shelf exhaust options

Hi all,
I know this topic has been covered extensively but i still have not come across a definitive answer.

My car is a 96 mkiv TT, it's 100% stock at the moment and i am looking for an exhaust system, having one custom made isnt really an option as i live in a remote area and the last quote i got for a cat back system(not including cat) was $1300 and that is still a 3 hour drive away. So im looking at ordering one through possibly auto bahn or another place that stocks off the shelf jap brand exhausts. I would like to know which brands are represented in Adelaide, and who stock them+your personal recommendations. I am leaning toward a trust or blitz system as they are stocked by auto bahn and as i wont be physically there, going through a reputable dealer is a must.

just to reiterate any opinion on these jap brand systems (your personal choice) will be appreciated

any help will be much appreciated

P.S i'd like the exhaust not hang down to much(look toy)

Troy Critchley was involved in a terrible accident in the USA when volunteering to do a drag racing display at a fund raising event, the crash left 6 people dead and 22 people wounded. Troy is now facing 6 homicide charges in the USA, for something which could only be described as a terrible accident, not an act that was illegal. The organisers of the event failed to erect proper safety barriers and also failed to have the crowd stand back as they were instructed to do so... Troy, a champion drag racer, lost control of his car during a burnout display, and his car careered into the crowd. He now faces life in a USA prison for his attempt to help out a charity... He is being used as a scapegoat for the poor organisation of the event, and lack of safety procedures...

Sorry for the shitty picture, will try to get some better ones soon. Offsets are around +35 front and back and the fronts are face1 to clear the 4 pots ... the suspension is all over the place since I keep changing the height to get it perfect, but i will be dialling out the camber and toe soon.
Since my last update I have done a few things to the car ... tein flex coilovers, struts front and back, trd twin plate clutch + flywheel, lots of maintenance and stuff. Stage 1 of mods is almost done, then there will be a break for a while so I can actually enjoy the car a bit then on to stage 2.
Still considering turbo options ... undecided whether to get the twins rebuilt or go single.

Hi Everyone,

I got my car serviced and tuned at foursnmore the other week. Brenton asked whether I was involved with any clubs and mentioned SA Supra are a great bunch of people who love toyotas and organise events without dickheads ruining it for the rest so I thought I'd check it out.

Paid a visit to Brenton and gang at fours and more yesterday. Good to see Jazz too. Lol. She was barking at me as if to say "Where the f*ck have you been?!". Gave her a hug and pat and then I was in her good books again.
Good to see quite a few supras down there. Much has changed and the yard is looking neat and tidy. Brenton and crew spared some time for my last minute surprise pop in to raise my front coils 15 mm and explain why my car was running like a tractor. I spotted an awesome spanking new space saver to replace mine which had litterally blown up in my boot, not sure as to why. Anyway he did me an awesome deal on it. It was a long drive home and I wanted to make sure I had a spare just in case.
Sorry I didn't get to see Sonia, my best regards. Oh and when aleft and drove a bit down the street I realised I left my sunglasses there, thats why I ran back and waved again Brenton. lol. Damn sunglasses!

Many many thanks

JZA80 Supra fuel use

What's goin down supra peoples?

I can tell you what's going up - the price of fuel.
Ever get sick of people that use regular octane fuel complain about prices when your paying 5 or 10c more per litre for premium?

Yep. Thought so.

Even with the price hikes (don't even start me on my mortgage), it seems my 2J is guzzling more petrol than ever. Granted, with all my attention given to the S13 Devil Car, MKIV-93 hasn't exactly been serviced as frequently as I would otherwise like...but still, $20 is lasting me like 2 days!

I have a 20 odd minute trip to work, so it's not like I'm commuting from Victor Harbour.

I think at last count, I threw in $30 worth of fuel (so approx 17.5 litres) and I wound up getting about 160ks out of her. That equates to a little over 9ks per litre?

Calcs are total ballpark, but what do people get on average k/l wise?

Cheers y'all.

Anyone know the driver of a Red A70 in Mt Barker

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows someone who drives a Red A70 in Mount Barker. Im not having a whinge or anything, but they are driving like a complete fuck head, and almost hit another car TRYING to drift a corner out here in the estate. My biggest concern at this is if people ring in saying its a supra and i bring my car to work and i get done for it, well shit will hit the fan. So if anyone knows who it is then please let them know. Or if they are a member then they are putting a bad name out for supra drivers everywhere.

Sorry to be posting such a negative topic, and i dont usually say much about people on the road, but this is rediculous

Cheers guys and gals

Website Issues

Ok Guys,

Just an update, if you can acctually get to this that is!

Yes, we know that there are issues with the site. I have been in contact with the hosting company who has reported that they are experiencing issues with the storage device that holds the content for our wee wittle site here.

Think of it this way, there's a big cabinet full of hard drives that LOTS of servers plug into, to get harddrive space. This cabinet isn't working for what ever reason, thus us, and lots of other websites that this Host, well, hosts, are having the same issues that we are.

I have been told that they are working diligently to try and rectify the situation but an ETA as to when everything works correctly has not been issued at this stage.

Please bare with us while we sit idly on our hands and wait for the hosting company to get off their asses and fix the issue.

Cheers,
I've just purchased an auto 96 supra tt, iv owned nissans in the past and i was originally looking to buy a r34 gtt, so i know little about supra's and apologize for any ignorant questions in the future. Im based about 600kms out of adelaide so it makes club participation and getting my car worked on difficult. now to my question

I'm looking to put an emanage ultimate and harness in, just inquiring if there are any well known/prolific supra/emanage tuners based in adelaide or SA

Merc's Soapbox

I am sad to hear that there has been a bit of tension once again within the Club on certain matters.

Too often when we dont get what we want we turn on each other or when we go too far and overstep our boundaries we dont do the right thing and shake hands and apologize. We aren't always gonna agree unfortunately but we can try cant we?

Now, clearly we got the numbers to be a club yet we struggle for decent turn outs to events. I urge all supra members to make it to as many as you can. Whether it be track day, dyno, cruises, carshows of even just a pub night. You will meet all sorts and gain friendship and knowledge from all ages and walks of life.

Please be active in the forums, especially when times are tough. You may not be able to goto events organised, have to work when they are on, or you're at work using internet access for personal use and pray you don't get busted..... or worse you have gone to fart possibly shit yourself by accident. We have a whinge thread and joke thread please use them.

I personally wish I could put in more support to the club. I would have really loved to have gone to more events esp the dyno days...Its been a bad year all in all and I hope that when things turn around for me I can get my wheels, licence, work sorted I can continue.

I have in the past supported where I could. The auto salon events were great fun. I did my best to still make it to the last years and it was worth it, even though I was in a crash in poor Ryan's car and I suspect I cracked some ribs cos I was in soooo much pain the next day. I still went to work, attended the show, and went to the pimp and ho party at HQ. I didnt have the best car out there and I didnt care either. It was bloody great fun! Represent, Respect and be Merry. Life is too short guys . I hope to see some input here too...

Tyres rubbing. Suggestions?

HI guys
Just after some suggestions.
I have just purchased new rims and tyres and they have filled out the guards quite nicely. Unfortunately the 40 profile of the tyre means that they scrub hard against the plastic guards in the wheel well on the front when I turn.
Can these guards be 'pursuaded' out of the way? Or do people remove them?
I am trying to get away without buying lower profile tyres.
The rims are 18x8 with 245/40 tyres.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Merc Update.

Well..... like I said before it hasn't been a good year.

A few people here know this already but thought I would explain a bit to everyone why i've been a bit quiet. There's alot which seems to be happening to me but I cant write everything down there's just too much. So here's a tip of the ice berg....

I had an accident earlier this year. While driving to work i had a person try and commit suicide in front of me. Due to alcohol and possibly other drugs he miss-timed his leap and instead of jumping out right in front of me for maximum damage he lept as I was driving past. His move was so unexpected I had no chance to brake and didnt realise what had happened till i was 50 metres down the road. I hit him doing 55kph, another 5 k's i think he would have succeeded. My windscreen smashed, side mirror broken and fender damage. Badly shaken I went to work an hour late and covered in his blood. I think he broke his leg, arm and had internal bleeding. As the ambo's took him away he refused their help initially asking them to leave him there he wanted to die. For legal reasons I cant say much more on this. Its been an uphill battle I can tell you, physically, emotionally and financially.

My work is closing down and will be losing my job this month, I plan to leave Adelaide for a while and find work elsewhere. Hopefully the change will be for the better. I will try and keep you posted. Thank you to those members for your friendship and support, you know who you are.

What License Plate should i go for

Hey guys,

I'm getting a 2jz conversion to my supra done sometime round august, and thinking on a Plate to go with the car after conversion

The 2 plates i've come up with are

JZA61

and

JZMA61

the first one if i got it would be a custom plate and slug me $320 per yr plus my rego. but the second one would be a personalised plate and just have the once off cost of $179 and then all i just pay is my rego as the ongoin cost, I wouldve started a poll but dont know how to get one started.
